Finding Documentation

To view, search, and print the PDF documentation, you need Adobe Reader (supported versions: Acrobat Reader 5.0.5 with Search through Adobe Reader 7.0). You can download Adobe Reader for free from the Adobe Systems Web site. Documentation is available on the Citrix Knowledge Center Web site (select Product Documentation). Updates to Citrix technical manuals are posted on the Web site.
To provide feedback about the documentation, go to www.citrix.com and click Support > Knowledge Center > Product Documentation. To access the feedback form, click the Submit Documentation Feedback link.
Document Center

Use the Document Center as a single point of access for all documentation relating to Citrix Presentation Server. Browse the table of contents for information about a task you want to accomplish and get point-and-click access to all pertinent sections across the guides. After installing the Document Center, choose Start > Programs > Citrix > Citrix Presentation Server > Documentation and then double-click document_center.pdf.

Note: You cannot update the Document Center with newer manuals or other files. Replacing any of the files in the installed \Documentation\docs folder impairs Document Center functionality. If you want to reinstall the Document Center, you must first remove the installed copy from your system using Add/Remove Programs.
Client Documentation

The Readme file for Citrix Presentation Server Clients for Windows is available from the Document Center. Readme files for other client software are available after you install the client software.
If you have an earlier version of Citrix Presentation Server installed, Client Administrator’s Guides for that release are located in the \Program Files\Citrix\Documentation\ICA Clients folder. When you upgrade to Citrix Presentation Server 4.5, these documents are not overwritten with the latest version. To install the latest version of the documentation, including Client Administrator’s Guides, be sure to install the Document Center on each server.
Licensing Documentation

Licensing documentation is available from the Documentation folder on all product CD-ROMs. For Citrix Presentation Server, licensing documentation is also available from the Document Center.
Microsoft Vista Support

Citrix Presentation Server clients 10.x are supported on Microsoft Vista. The majority of the known issues experienced with Presentation Server clients 9.x on Vista have been resolved. For more information, see the Citrix Knowledge Center article CTX112067, Microsoft Windows Vista – Known Issues.

Known Issues in this Release

The following is a list of known issues in this release. Read it carefully before installing the product.

Installation Issues

Important: Before you install this product, make sure you consult the Pre-Installation Update Bulletin and the Installation Checklist.

After upgrading to Version 10.0 of the client on a server running Presentation Server V. 3.0 or V. 4.0, you might be prompted for the server file, MPS.msi, when the server restarts. The issue occurs if Pass-Through Authentication was selected during the client portion of the original server installation. It does not occur on Presentation Server V. 4.5.
For more information and a workaround, see Knowledge Center article CTX112850. Other Known Issues

  • An error message appears when launching Program Neighborhood Agent from the Start menu on a computer with the Windows Installer disabled. As a workaround, launch Program Neighborhood Agent by running pnagent.exe in the ICA Client folder, or by restarting the computer. [#146364]
  • Drivers created using the Virtual Channel SDK may need to be installed manually because the module.ini file is now installed in the registry as part of the client install process. [#141978]
  • This release imposes stricter checks on the contents of .ica files to enhance client connection security. This means that launching connections using existing .ica files could generate error messages, if for example the client finds duplicate entries in the .ica file. If you see connection errors after upgrading the Clients for Windows, check the .ica file for duplicate or badly formatted entries as indicated by the error message. [#153254]
  • Citrix Systems recommends that if you installed client software on client devices by using the Access Client package, do not attempt to upgrade the client software using stand-alone client installation software. If updated versions of clients are available (that is, newer than the clients in the Access Client package) and you want to install them on client devices where the Access Client package is deployed, you must uninstall the Access Client package first. (Removing the Access Client package removes all clients from the client device.) [#157794]
  • If you connect to a published version of Microsoft Outlook in seamless mode, clicking on a link to a shared folder opens a Locate Link Browser dialog box and a Windows Explorer window instead of the shared folder. [#154010]
  • To use Kerberos authentication for your client connections, you can either create and install a custom client installation package or edit the wfclient.ini file. To enable Kerberos in a custom client package, select Yes and Use Kerberos only on the Use Local Name and Password page of the Client Packager Setup wizard. For information about editing the wfclient.ini file, see the “Configuring Kerberos Authentication” section in Chapter 4 of the Clients for Windows Administrator’s Guide. [124304]
  • To stream 2007 Microsoft Office programs, client devices must have .NET Framework 2.0 installed. [#149036]
  • Users who belong to two domains, such as those using a laptop that is not part of the corporate domain, need to enter credentials one extra time before launching the first streamed application from the file share, even with single sign-on enabled. For example, users have to authenticate to log on to the streaming client and again to log on to the network file share. For the duration of the session, however, Windows caches the credentials, and users do not need to enter them again for any subsequent accesses to the file share. [#125199]
  • Users who have the Citrix Streaming Client installed and then install either the Netscape 7.x or Mozilla Firefox 1.x Web browser to stream applications from a Web Interface site might receive a Web Interface message: “You do not have the Citrix Streaming Client installed on your system.” If so, they can use the Repair option to reinstall the streaming client, which registers the client as a plug-in with the Web browser. [#143757]
  • The Citrix Streaming Clients Package.msi installs both Program Neighborhood Agent (the Client for Windows enhanced for application streaming) and the Streaming Client (operating in the background and not visible to users). These clients handle both streamed and non-streamed applications. If computers already have a previous version of the Client for Windows installed for Presentation Server applications, the client is automatically upgraded to the new streaming-enabled version, but only one client appears in the Add or Remove Programs list. If you then uninstall the Citrix Streaming Clients for Windows, you uninstall both the Client for Windows and the Streaming Client.Note: If you install the Citrix Streaming Clients Package.msi first, and then install the ica32pkg.msi, the clients in the streaming clients package are upgraded. In this scenario, both clients (Citrix Presentation Server Client and Citrix Streaming Clients for Windows) are listed in the Add or Remove Programs dialog box. To then install the Program Neighborhood client, open the Add or Remove Programs dialog box, select the Citrix Presentation Server Client, click Change, select Modify, and add Program Neighborhood. [#155184]
  • If you deploy a client package using an Advertised installation (Install on First Use), the end-user may need to run a full repair for the client to get the Single Sign On feature to work. [#156869]

Documentation Errata

Clients for Windows Administrator’s Guide

  • Chapter 5, “Securing Client Communication,” does not apply to application streaming for desktops. For information about increasing security in application streaming for desktops, see Citrix Knowledge Center article CTX110304, Enhancing Security in Application Streaming for Desktops. [#157584]

Help for Program Neighborhood

  • In the ICA Settings – General tab topic, disregard the “Allow automatic client updates” section and the reference to “software update settings” in the introduction. Automatic client update functionality is removed from this release. [#157790]
  • In the Add New ICA Connection – Connection type, <Custom ICA Connection>Properties – Connection tab, Quick Launch Properties – Connection tab, Add New ICA Connection – Select a device, and Add New ICA Connection – Dialing information topics, disregard the references to ICA Dial-In and ICA dial-up connections. Dial-up connections are no longer supported in this release. [#157790]
