Outlook 2007 slow type (FIXED)

Issue : You are running outlook 2007 on a citrix server (Any version) and it is slow to type.  I have experienced this problem many times before and there are many things that can cause this issue.

Resolution : There is either a bottle neck in your system or possibly there is a bug with the office application.

First thing to do is run office update and install the latest service packs and hotfixes for microsoft office / outlook 2007.  Outlook 2007 is known to run very slow if you dont have the latest service packs / hotfixes installed.  For some reason outlook 2007 use to use up to 25% CPU in  a single users session and if you had 4 users doing this at the same time the server would hang causing outlook 2007 to slow type.

Next monitor the CPU via task manager, if the CPU reaches 100% and stays there for a while this will cause users sessions to hang / type slow in outlook 2007.  Ideally you want the CPU to go no higher than 50%-70%

Has the server ran out of memory?  If the server has ran out of memory this will make the server go slow as the server will be paging to disk.

Is the disk I/O a problem?  If the disk I/o is at 100% this will also cause users outlook 2007 to type slow.  To find out if I/O is the problem click on start > run > type in  perfmon  and hit enter.  Now monitor the value “Avg Disk Queue Length”
